SURROUNDINGS

NEW AUGUST 2009!!!

"Barcelona, the cosmopolitan city par excellence, is also known as the city of design. It's the Capital of Catalonia, with over 2000 years of history, and has the second largest population in Spain (1,600,000 inhabitants)”.

The Ayre Hotel Rosellon fantastic location let us recommend you to visit the Sagrada Familia, which was designed by Antoni Gaudi. It was considered as a cultural heritage by the UNESCO.
You may also want to stroll along Barcelona’s Eixample, one of the most emblematic neighborhoods in the city and designed by the engineer Ildefonso Cerdá.

Near the hotel is the Diagonal Avenue that divides the city obliquely, east to west. This characteristic street is full of historic buildings of great value which were very important to the Catalonian history. The neogothic  palace of Can Terrades, known as Casa de les Punxes is remarkable for its sharply pointed towers or the current museum of music, designed by Puig i Cadafalch in 1906 are good examples of this architecture.

This avenue is perfect for shopping: tourist will be able to find big shopping centers, boutiques and well-known brand shops. There are also some restaurants, cafés,. official buildings and some big enterprises headquarters.
.
Another place that stands for by its beauty is the neighborhood called Gracia, which was indeed a village apart from the city until the nineteenth century. Many artists live there as well as many different people from other countries so there, our guests will be able to eat in international restaurants.  The Plaça de Sol is the most well-known place within the neighborhood.
