Ayre Hoteles has announced a new project in the nerve centre of the capital for 2012, more specifically a “boutique hotel” on calle Barquillo.
This will increase the brand’s number of hotel establishments in Madrid to two, including the Ayre Gran Hotel Colón, which has been part of the brand since 2007 and was completely renovated in 2009.
The project on calle Barquillo will be built in the former palace of the Widowed Marquess of Aldama, a building which dates back to the end of the 19th century, of great architectural beauty. It will be a superior 4 star hotel with 70 rooms which is planned to open at the end of 2012. According to Juan Serra, general director of Ayre “It will be a hotel with a difference in a prime location of the city noted for its vitality and dynamism, a boutique hotel concept which will offer guests a combination of sensations which will intertwine history and technology with the pleasure of travelling”.
The new hotel will have a Lounge Bar, an area for breakfasts on one of its outdoor patios and a function room. The interior design will be in the hands of the Barcelona design studio of Lázaro Rosa Violán, known for its luxury and timeless proposals.
The chain already has one leading hotel in Madrid, the Ayre Gran Hotel Colón. This is one of the most cosmopolitan establishments in the capital, with cutting edge, contemporary design. Its loft with 360 degree views of the city of Madrid has been the venue for many events which have attracted famous people from the Madrid social scene, such as the presentation of the new hotel concept which has caused a sensation in Ibiza, the Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel.
